2016 LRRA Memorial Service
at the College of the Ozarks, Branson, MO.
The Purpose of the LRRA is to promote, foster, preserve, record and celebrate the history and lineage of the United States Army’s Long Range Patrol, Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol, and Long Range Surveillance Units.
The LRRA has taken action to preserve the LRRP-LRP-LRS legacy by purchasing and placing Memorial Benches at the NATIONAL RANGER MEMORIAL and at the NATIONAL INFANTRY MUSEUM. The LRRA has also purchased a paver to honor LRRP-LRP-LRS men to be place at the ARMY HISTORY MUSEUM being build near Ft. Belvoir, VA.
The motto of the LRRA is "OCULOS EXERCITUS".....Eyes of the Army in keeping of the common mission of LRRP, LRP, and LRS Units, to provide the Commander with accurate information about his assigned Aera of Operations.
The membership of this association includes men who served honorably with a LRRP, LRP, or LRS Unit or Detachment during peacetime or war.
This website and the LRRA Rally is a means for LRRP-LRP-LRS team members to reconnect and to continue the legacy of all Era LRRP-LRP-LRS Units.
As LRRPs, LRPs, and LRS have left the service, retired, or changed units, ....years of lost contact has brought about the need for a means to reconnect with their team members.
In April 2014, approximately 60 veterans of Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol members from USAEUR in the 60s and Vietnam LRRPs and Long Range Patrol units met with Post Vietnam and GWOT Long Range Surveillance (LRS) members in Columbus Georgia. It was suggested that the "Rally" become an annual event.
A second "Rally" was held in Branson Missouri June 25-27, 2015. In a meeting on June 27, 2015, approximately 120 attendees made the motion to organize an Association for LRRPs, LRPs, and LRS. The motion was carried and the LONG RANGE RECONNAISSANCE ASSOCIATION (LRRA) was organized. By-laws were voted on and approved. The first LRRA Officers were nominated and elected.
June 2-4, 2016, the LRRA hosted the third Rally in Branson, MO. More than 150 LRRPs, LRPs, and LRS were in attendance, some had been at the previous three rallies, but there were also new attendees.
The LRRA will host the 2017 Rally in Branson, Missouri again, 8-10 June, 2017, at the Spinning Wheel Inn, Schaeffer Drive, in Branson.
It is not a requirement to be a member of the LRRA to attend the 2017 Rally, however registration is required.
